Fetch Worthy is a pet sitting business transforming into a dog training business. Created by Shelly Haines, a certified dog trainer, who studied at the Victoria Stilwell Academy. She also holds a Professional Pet Sitter Certification from Pet Sitter’s International.
Her business is primarily based in Austin, Texas and with the COVID-19 pandemic, she will be offering online dog behavior and training consultations and classes. By offering pet sitting and dog walking to her dog training clients, the dogs can keep up their training while in her care because her strategy reinforces the ideal behaviors learned in class.
Shelly is yet another connection from the Austin Wellness Collaborative. I’ve really enjoyed working with the collaborative.
The Start
Shelly was building a free site on Weebly and ran into issues with formatting and overall building of the site. She gave a lot of creative guidance and I was able to teach her how to improve and maintain it. There were a lot of moving parts and changes in the beginning and the site is still evolving. I was able to create a more lively looking website site than what the free template provided.
The Work
Work done in this project includes:
- Graphics work
- image selection
- adjusting crop and color balances
- optimizing formats for displayed size & quicker loading
- HTML & CSS
- basic formatting & semantic tag usage
- custom CSS adjustments to base Weebly theme
- added basic floating notice button (for COVID)
- SEO specific adjustments (where distinct from above)
- Added “META” Titles & Descriptions
- These provide basic info about pages for search engines.
- Added alternative text descriptions for images (“alt tags”)
- These are good for SEO & to help people who may be disabled and/or are using screen reader software.
